Remember the scalp!

Often people don’t pay enough attention to the scalp, although it is skin like in other body parts. And then it happens that scalp receives any attention when skin problems appear, like itching, dryness and flakiness, meaning dandruff.

The state of the scalp is influenced by stress, nutrition, various illnesses and many other factors. Blow-drying, colouring or perming can also influence the status of the scalp.

The scalp can be naturally dry, but it can also turn dry temporarily, for example in winter. Dry cold air can make the scalp irritated or flaky. You would like to scratch your itchy scalp, but usually that would only make the situation worse. Scratching can damage the skin, and bacteria and impurities can be transported by the hands to irritated spots.

Dandruff consists of dead skin cells shed from the scalp. In addition to dryness flakiness is sometimes also caused by oily scalp, yeast infection, rash or psoriasis. Light flakiness isn’t an illness, but it is a sign that the scalp isn’t quite all right. Dandruff is also an embarrassing problem for many people.

You can get relief to dry and itchy scalp by using mild and moisturising hair care products that also soothe skin. Powerful hair care products make scalp even drier. You should also pay attention to the pH level of the products. Products with pH similar to hair and skin (4.5-5.5) will not unbalance scalp’s own moisture balance.

Itching can also be relieved by using various care products, like serums for example. For example products that contain menthol can cool irritated scalp and reduce itching.

The most effective way to get rid of dandruff is to use anti-dandruff cleansing products. Dandruff shampoo can be used for a period of time, but sometimes it can take quite a long treatment period to get rid of dandruff.

 Like other skin areas you can also take care of the scalp by peeling. Peeling products remove the dead skin cells from the scalp and after peeling skin will be more receptive to care products. For example lactic acid is a mild and peeling component. You should not try to peel your scalp when the skin is very irritated or damaged.

Better take the condition of your scalp into account when using styling products as well. To allow your scalp to calm down you should try to avoid getting any styling products touch your scalp as much as possible. Once a week you could also wash your hair with Deep Cleansing Shampoo to remove any styling product residues from your hair that could otherwise irritate the scalp.

Scalp Caring Serum soothes and moisturises irritated skin, and it helps prevent dandruff. The serum should be massaged to the scalp in small amounts and it can be used several times a day, if necessary. The serum is quickly absorbed and doesn’t have to be washed off.
